Crime prevention advice
Make your mark!
Text written with an ultraviolet (UV) pen can only be seen when a UV light is shined onto the item. They are easy to use and a discreet way to mark your property.
A determined burglar can be difficult to discourage but by taking simple prevention measures, marking your property, and using property registers, you can make your belongings less attractive. By taking these steps, your property will be more difficult to sell and will reduce its street value.
Ownership over property can sometimes be difficult to determine. By marking or registering your valuables, should the worst happen, and your items are stolen, when they are recovered there can be no dispute over who owns them.
For more info on how property marking works visit our website.
Be fraud smart
Criminals are experts at pretending to be someone they're not and can fool even the savviest of people.
If someone contacts you unprompted and asks for personal or financial information, stop and take a moment to think - even if they claim to be from an organisation you trust.
Only criminals will put pressure on you to act quickly.
Remember it’s ok to say no and contact the organisation through a route you know to be genuine.
