This week we remember
Edmund Sleigh Frost
Police Sergeant Edmund Frost lived and worked in Halstead before being posted to the opposite end of the county when he joined the force on 1 March 1929. He worked at various stations in the Romford division before being promoted to sergeant, returning briefly to the rural end of Essex before being posted back to Romford at the start of the Second World War.
Edmund Frost was commended by the Chief Constable for consistent good work in air raids on Romford. In August 1946 Edmund Frost had a long period of sick leave after being kicked by a deserter. He returned to work and was posted to Harlow, but succumbed to a fatal disease which was directly related to the injury on duty he had received. He died on 8 April 1948.
Good luck to Bob Craven who has been walking the length of Southend Pier every Wednesday since 15 February. Bob is walking to raise awareness and thank the many agencies and charities who have supported him with the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and associated mental and physical heath issues that he has bravely fought since he retired as a police officer.
Bob will be walking again this Wednesday 5 April starting at noon. His talk at the rest point will be about his career with the police service. If you’re free and would like to join Bob on his walk, he would love to see you there.
Bob will be walking every Wednesday at noon until 24 May. He is raising money for Mind, Asthma & Lung UK and The British Heart Foundation.
