Officers arrest and charge abusive caller
Officers arrested and charged a man in connection with nuisance calls and threats made to the ambulance service on Sunday 6 May.
The call taker had been attempting to check on the welfare of the man, who had repeatedly called and hung up, when she was threatened and verbally abused down the phone. Read more.

We are appealing for information following an assault on a man on Daiglen Drive, near to the Jack O Lantern pub and Bonnygate Park, at around 3am on Sunday 7 May. Read more.
Southend: Investigation after woman robbed
We are investigating a robbery on Hamstel Road, Southend between 1.15pm and 1.25pm on Sunday 7 May, where a woman was threatened with a screwdriver. Read more.

A man has been charged following an incident in Clacton where it was reported a man with a hammer attacked a vehicle on Wash Lane, 7pm on Tuesday 9 May. Read more.
Essex Police welcome three new Roads Policing Speed Enforcement Officers at Chelmsford launch
The new Speed Enforcement Officers will use Trucam devices to enforce speed where required and will work with our Speedwatch volunteers and School Speedwatch pupils to ensure drivers keep to the speed limits. Read more.

Hotels and B&Bs across the county are being visited by undercover police officers accompanied by police cadets to test whether their staff would spot and report signs of potential child exploitation. Read more.

Dunmow: Three arrested following assault
Three people have been arrested in connection with a serious assault following an incident at The Boards Head on the High Street at around 8.20pm on 30 April. A man in his 30s sustained a bleed on the brain, a fractured nose, and fractures to his jaw . Read more.
Broomfield: Man charged with attempted murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder. We were called just before 9pm on Saturday 6 May to Hornbeam Gardens, Broomfield, to reports of an assault in which a man sustained a head injury. Read more.
Colchester: A man will appear in court charged with GBH without intent
Officers investigating a serious assault on Blackthorn Avenue, Colchester, where a man has life changing injuries, have charged a man. Read more.

Often taking simple steps could reduce the chances of your home being burgled.
Small changes to your garden could help make your home more secure.
Our top tips are:
Use tactical planting of low-growing thorny shrubs around fences, windows or drainpipes.
Outdoor lighting can be a good deterrent for a burglar.
Make sure sheds and gates are secured with close shackle padlocks and pad bolts. Remember to replace them when they start to rust.
Secure expensive items like bikes with ground anchor.

This week we remember
Reginald Thomas Hunt
After training, police constable Reginald Thomas Hunt was posted to Clacton and then to Grays. He left the police on 7 September 1941 and joined the R.A.F. the following day. He was the wireless operator of 7 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve when, in the early hours of 20 May 1944 the aircraft was hit by light flak and crashed. All the crew, presumably including Reginald, were killed on 20 May 1944.
Albert Ronald Oxenham
Police constable Albert Ronald Oxenham joined Essex County Constabulary on 27 September 1937, having previously worked as a waiter at The Queens Hotel in Hastings. After training at Headquarters, Albert was posted to Brentwood, Rochford and Canvey Island. Albert joined the R.A.F. on 6 October 1941. He was killed in the early hours of Monday, 22 May 1944.
